Sing, Dance & Play your way through kindergarten!

If you've spent any time in our classroom, you're well aware that we spend a lot of time moving and singing throughout our day.  During transitions, movement breaks, repeating directions as well as fun songs while waiting in line.  Singing is also a way we practice our letter names & sounds.  Here a couplequick videos of our kindergarten songs.

5 Little Pumpkins- This song never gets old.  Their expressions are just the cutest!!!

Terrific Tangrams

Two of our kindergarten goals include sorting by (shape, size, color & thickness) and identifying 2 dimensional shapes (square, circle, rectangle, triangle, rhombus, hexagon & trapezoid).  We had an introduction to sorting and had a chance to explore our tangram shapes with picture puzzles.

Kid Time Fun

We have been enjoying our days in Kindergarten at school.  We know that if we get our work done first, there's more time to play.  During our play time, students have an opportunity to explore a variety of places in our classroom & dome flex area.  Some of the stations include: Creative writing, creation station, fine motor fun, dramatic play in the house, play school, light table, legos, toy shelf, neighborhood & blocks!  Here are a few photos from our kid time stations!

First Day Fun!

I realized near the end of the day that I didn't take nearly enough pictures!  We were so busy and the kiddos were so tired by the end of the day.  Ask your child about two new songs we learned: "Tiny Tim the Turtle" & the "Peanut Butter & Jelly" song (there are actions too!!) We enjoyed making new friends, a craft for mom and dad, and even a new crown!

Thank you all for sharing your wonderful children with me.  They are simply a blast and we had a fabulous first day together.  I'm looking forward to a great Kindergarten year!
